Beth had a great 4.5 months home with Malcolm, but the day had to come when she would return to work, and that day was September 18th. It was great that she had such a long time home with him. I start my leave on October 6th–my company is letting me take 3 months, which I really appreciate. I can’t wait for my turn to be home with the little stinker. We needed to have someone watch the kid for the 2 weeks between the end of Beth’s leave and the beginning of mine, and who better to do that than Grammy Andersen?!?
Back before Malcolm was born, Beth and I took a childbirth class with Penny Simkin. She’s been leading the natural childbirth movement for 30 years or so and just happens to be in Seattle. The class was great at preparing us for the birth. We had our class reunion this week, and 9 of 16 babies showed up–they were all boys! Here’s a picture of all of them together, on the couch, watching the game.

The house is coming along. They are in the process of completing the new porch on the front. And they’re doing a lot of siding replacement where the existing siding was rotten or cracked. Only a few weeks left!
Malcolm’s firend Malcolm stopped by on a recent trip to Seattle. Malcolm Dunn went to Carleton with Malcolm Andersen’s parents. The Malcolms got together and decided that they both think Malcolm is a cool name.
