Malcolm can now sit in one of those nasty restaurant high chairs. He digs it, but rocked so hard against the front of it we were worried he might bruise himself or knock the chair over!
I find it’s much easier to keep track of the kid if he’s put in his “playpen”. This care-giving stuff isn’t that hard…
Grammy went home, but here are some pictures from when she was taking care of Malcolm. He had a great time and is wondering when the heck she’s going to come back and rescue him from the tall, hairy guy currently responsible for his daily welfare.
OK, Joe, you’ve got him right where you want him. Keep the right jab coming. Quick! Quick! And don’t let him rest. Keep the feet moving–cut him off when he side steps. Keep the left up, and combinations! Combinations will win this for you! –DING!– Go get him!
I think the most powerful reason to take paternity leave is to teach my son some of the most important things in life. Like, the Packers are just about the only pro sports team worth caring about. All other teams are a bunch of posers, with big TV contracts, and slick black uniforms. Play in a town of 100,000, where you can lose fingers toward the end of the season if you don’t choose your gloves carefully, and the stands are full of blaze orange snowmobile suits, then you know what football is all about. And if you understand this, it doesn’t matter if while your watching the game, your butt is anchored in a powder blue boppy and you are wearing a chartruse jump suit.
