Compost in our office

In addition to recycling which we’ve had for a long time, our building owner just added compost collection bins to all the suites in the office. All food waste and food-soiled paper go in a small can that gets cleaned out each night.

In Seattle, about 30% of the garbage thrown out could be composted. That’s a whole lot of garbage that isn’t garbage, but an asset that can be used to augment our dwindling soil resources. If you ever wonder if we can turn things around in respect to our impact on the environment, think about all that food going into a landfill forever, and how easy it would be to stop that from happening.

Why doesn’t your office have compost collection? Don’t you think they should? Ask for it!
